World water shortages

If you click here and then click the link on the right for global water shortages warning, there is an interesting BBC news video clip about the effects of a global water shortage.
There is also an interesting article here about global water shortages, and possible solutions.

CHINA
In the northern and western parts of China, people have recently been suffering from a severe drought- the worst in 50 years. In other parts, however, there has been flooding. For more information about the drought, click here.

The 1.3 billion people of the world's most populous country have at their disposal only a quarter of the water per person that is available on average around the world. 19 million people have been affected by the drought, and many are being forced to get water from polluted sources.

If you click here, there is a video clip on the right about the drought in China. The first half is more about the flooding but the second half is about the water shortages and what the government intends to do about it.
